International Big Cat Alliance (IBCA) 2025 में कई कारणों से news में है:
- IBCA आधिकारिक तौर पर जनवरी 2025 में एक treaty-based, inter-governmental international organization बन गया।
- जून 2025 में नई दिल्ली में इसका पहला General Assembly आयोजित हुआ, जिसमें नौ देशों के Ministerial delegations ने भाग लिया। इस Assembly में भारत के पर्यावरण मंत्री, Bhupender Yadav, को सर्वसम्मति से IBCA का पहला President चुना गया।
- अप्रैल 2025 में भारत और IBCA के बीच Headquarters Agreement पर हस्ताक्षर किए गए, जिससे भारत आधिकारिक तौर पर IBCA का permanent secretariat बन गया।
- अगस्त 2025 में Nepal जैसे देशों ने आधिकारिक तौर पर IBCA में शामिल हो गए, जिससे global collaboration for big cat conservation और मजबूत हुआ।
IBCA को 2023 में प्रधानमंत्री श्री नरेंद्र मोदी ने “Commemorating 50 years of Project Tiger” event के दौरान launch किया था।
Headquarters भारत में है।
Members: 27 देशों ने Alliance में शामिल होने की सहमति दी है। पांच देश (Nicaragua, Eswatini, India, Somalia, और Liberia) official तौर पर IBCA के सदस्य बन गए हैं।
इसे भारत सरकार ने National Tiger Conservation Authority (NTCA), Ministry of Environment, Forest & Climate Change (MoEFCC) के जरिए 12th March, 2024 को स्थापित किया था।
Focus: इसका लक्ष्य सात big cat species: Tiger, Lion, Leopard, Snow Leopard, Cheetah, Jaguar, और Puma का conservation करना है।
इसमें range countries (वह देश जहां ये species पाए जाते हैं) और non-range countries दोनों शामिल हैं जो big cat conservation का समर्थन करने में interested हैं।
Objective: IBCA का primary goal big cat conservation के लिए global collaboration को आसान बनाना, successful conservation practices को consolidate करना, और worldwide big cats को preserve करने के common goal को प्राप्त करना है।
इसका aim financial support देना, conservation best practices को disseminate करना, technical knowledge का एक central repository बनाना, और intergovernmental conservation platforms को मजबूत करना है।
